Ooh, the fun part...

As I said, the main reason I cut off all my hair is that it didn't look good any more.

Better living through chemistry couldn't make my hair anything other than the ratty, stringy mass it was.

And it was going away on its own. I refuse to be one of those people who does the "comb-over" to hide their bald spot.

I know people for whom male-pattern baldness and long remaining hair work together. I'm not one of those people. The pattern I inherited was going to turn me first into Friar Tuck, and while shaving my head and living with men is my idea of a good time, burlap chafes me. Eventually, I would have looked like Will Shakespeare (at least as he looks in the portraits) which is artistically cool, but in my book not a bit attractive.

That's why I shaved my head.

Why should you shave your head? Why do I keep doing it? Here's my list of the innumerable advantages to having a shaved head:
(so, of course, I'm placing them in a numbered list)

  1. You only have to worry about what it looks like once a day, and then it's gone.
  2. It's easier to wear hats.
  3. It's easier to wear wigs.
  4. People won't joke about your toupe.
  5. You can shower right before bed and not sleep on a wet pillow.
  6. People want to massage your scalp.
  7. It makes you look older.
  8. It makes you look ageless.
  9. It shows off your piercings (at least the ones above the neck) better.
  10. No more hair in your eyes.
  11. No more hair in your food.
  12. No more hair in the shower drain.
  13. It's cheaper than going to the salon.
  14. No more expensive shampoo or conditioner.
  15. Opponents can't grab your hair in a fight.

If you would like to suggest other advantages to not having any hair, feel free to email me and I'll add the ones I like (hey, at least I'm hounest about it).
